In 1976, Barbara Wicks purchased a small plot of land with one rose bush and a small house. Since then, many more roses have been planted, two stables have been built, and a large indoor arena has been constructed. Rose Ranch has become a family operated, full-care facility that accommodates 45 horses.
Barbara Wicks is still riding and training horses at 80 years young. Her passion for horses is contagious and is reflected in the well-being of the horses at Rose Ranch and the positive energy and dedication of the riders. She also runs a successful breeding program resulting in hunter types currently being trained, ridden, and shown by daughter, Allison Wicks. Barbara is an alumni of the prestegious St. Lawrence University.
Allison Wicks has been the head coach and rider at Rose Ranch since 1998. She has been acknowledged for her dedication and drive through an accumulation of numerous awards.
A few of Allison's equestrian accomplishments include:
Carlos has been working at Rose Ranch for 26 years. He maintains the ranch in pristine condition and takes excellent care of the horses. Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico he loves working with all animals and is truly a cowboy at heart. He has been married for 30 years and has 3 children. All very successful in their own right, he says about his kids, "I can’t wait to see where my kids end up and who they turn out to be."
